One of our favorite holidays is upon us: HALLOWEEN!! We love the smell of autumn in the air, the themed candies at grocery stores, and the excitement of children thinking of creative costumes. A very EASY and AFFORDABLE costume solution is to use PAPER!!
Our favorite, albeit messy, way of creating something out of paper is through Paper Mache. It is a combination of flour, water, and paper that drys and forms a hardened surface. Here are 3 ways to make Paper Mache:
-3/4 white glue to 1/4 water (or if using a good, thick glue, like elmers you can do 1/2 and 1/2)
-1 part flour to 5 parts water… boil about 3 minutes and let cool
-1 part flour to 1 part water. Stir together.
Dip your newspaper or brown paper bag strips into one of these concoctions and cover a surface with a paintbrush. Let it dry and voila!! You’ve got a form. Here are detailed image instructions.
