For the past couple of years, we have been encouraging our customers and readers to “buy and support local.” We believe that by keeping money and business in the small, locally owned companies in a community, everyone will benefit. In 1963, the President of the United States issued a proclamation for National Small Business Week, which recognizes America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. Please join us in celebrating National Small Business Week June 17-21.
Throughout the country, cities are holding seminars on marketing, talks with business experts, and panels about entrepreneurship. In Portland, VIOS will be holding an event called “Local Dollars, Local Sense” on June 18. During the event, Michael Shuman will be holding a Q&A session and hosting the keynote address. He is an expert on community economics and an author of small business books. There will also be a networking event after the session.
We support small businesses, are happy to be a small business, and hope that you see the positive outcomes of working with small businesses. If you are able to attend the June 18th event, you can register here: http://vois-local-dollars-local-sense.eventbrite.com/. We look forward to seeing you!
