Holiday Paper Crafts for the Home and Planet

Jyssica Sustainability

Deck the hall with boughs of holly, but if you can’t get your hands on a real bough this holiday, what’s the next best thing? How nice would it be to have an autumnal wreath that doesn’t scatter leaves and pine needles throughout your home?

According to a study from Stanford University, Americans throw away 25% more trash during the Thanksgiving to New Year’s holiday period than any other time of year. The waste from this time alone amounts to 25 million tons of garbage.

This season, Paperjam encourages you to use what is already around you or recycled to create your perfect holiday crafts. Whether it’s a homemade card, a paper wreath, or a crafted gift, the sentiment will be that much more meaningful and cozy.

Think about this: If every family reused just two feet of holiday ribbon, the 38,000 miles of ribbon saved could tie a bow around the entire planet.

We’ve gathered a few of our favorite holiday craft ideas for you to try on this season. Just pick your favorite, and come to our Creative Crafty event on Saturday, November 3rd, or try your DIY at home.

When you do, share the love on social and let us know by tagging us on Instagram @paperjampdx! We’d love to share your creation with the Jammer community.

Here are our three favorite holiday paper crafts to try this year:

Over the past several years Paperjam has been exploring ways to repurpose our scrap papers into usable items.  We will be featuring some of the following items in our Scrap Collection during the holiday season — gift tags, small gift cards, notepads, and journals.
Here’s a sneak peek… come show us some love and support our efforts to be green!
